Clare Simpson

Clare Simpson serves as Strategic Director for Community Wellbeing at Cornwall Council, a position she took up on 6 January 2026. Her directorate is responsible for developing and maintaining Cornwall's communities, encompassing community safety, public health, community services, waste, and regulatory services — ensuring they are clean, sustainable, and that communities are safe, active, and resilient.

The role, which carries a salary of up to £166,000, was recruited through executive search firm Faerfield in mid-2025 following a restructure of the council's senior leadership team. Simpson works alongside the Chief Operating Officer and three other Strategic Directors.
