Phil Mason

Phil Mason serves as Strategic Director for Sustainable Growth and Place at Cornwall Council, responsible for economic growth, development, and housing provision across Cornwall.

Mason's career in local government spans over three decades, beginning at Restormel Borough Council as a planning officer. Following the creation of the Cornwall unitary authority in 2009, he transitioned to Cornwall Council where he rose to become chief planning officer. In September 2018, he was confirmed as Strategic Director for Economic Growth and Development, succeeding John Betty in the role.

His directorate focuses on maximising Cornwall's potential for economic growth and development, including ensuring sufficient housing is provided across the county.
